PUT MORE TIME ON YOUR SIDE: How to Manage Your Life in a Digital World (Second edition: Revised & Updated) (Sound Wisdom, 2017)
Foreign sales: Korean. In preparation: Chinese, Bulgarian, Hindi.
“While it might be tempting to see this book as a follow-up to Dr. Jan Yager’s other great works, I think it’s safe to say that this book is very unique in its approach. One fact that became quite apparent to me is how introspective and practical this book is. Seeing time not just as currency, but as a singular coin, makes its scarcity all the more real, and how it’s spent all the more pressing. Yager emphasizes that if you can make your goal as clear as day, you are more likely to accomplish it, plus many other ancillary goals. For all the time invested in reading and integrating what’s learned in Put More Time on Your Side into real life, you’ll gain back a great deal of time, with interest!”
—Cody McLain, CEO, SupportNinja

FOREIGN RIGHTS AND WRONGS: Selling or Buying Print or Digital Literary Rights Around the World
Available in e-book and audiobook. Print will be available soon.
This is a comprehensive self-help book to selling, or buying, foreign rights. Authors will of course find it useful but so will literary agents or editors since it is never too early to start thinking about how to make a book more saleable internationally. This book is based on my foreign rights expertise, dating back to my job as head of foreign rights for Grove Press – legendary publisher Barney Rosset personally taught me the Grove Press system for doing foreign rights which I’ve relied on, with some modification of course, over the years – as well as selling my own foreign rights and the international rights for other authors including for my own small press, Hanancroix Creek Books, Inc. I’ve sold one or multiple titles into 34 languages. In Foreign Rights and Wrongs, there is even a chapter on how to work more effectively with the foreign rights department at your publishing company, or literary agency, to help you to sell more rights as well as chapters on participating in co-op exhibits or selling directly. Here is the Table of Contents for the book, which is also available as an audiobook, narrated by James Hazen.

THE PRETTY ONE
*****A fine and uplifting read, with many perspectives, highly recommended
By Midwest Book Review on October 7, 2010
Format: Paperback
What causes someone to lose it all? “The Pretty One” tells the tale of a seemingly happy and healthy psychologist in Emily Taylor, who seems to lose it and bloat to 200 pounds. Telling a story of how weight loss isn’t just about health and exercise but facing what caused the weight loss in the first place, “The Pretty One” is a fine and uplifting read, with many perspectives, highly recommended.
UNTIMELY DEATH (co-authored with Fred Yager)
Foreign editions: Swedish; Vietnamese
Untimely Death has the plot and pace of a TV Sunday Movie of the Week. The story line is movie length, but some of the situations are stock from episodic TV, like the off-camera killer. The book is the joint effort of Fred and Jan Yager. He is a TV executive and she may very well be the basis of the book’s attractive criminologist character. Even if the book may be Fred’s unconscious panegyric to his better half, Untimely Death reads like the work of a master of the detective thriller. There is none of the schlock and gadgetry that seems to bug most of today’s mainstream thrillers. What we have here is a crisp, efficient thriller before the likes of Robert Ludlum and Tom Clancy redefined the genre. The lifts and dips in this roller-coaster ride are familiar by now, but you always anticipate the jolt from an adrenaline rush. — From Independent Publisher
